YOU are all O LORD I treasure,

It’s YOUR Presence my greatest pleasure,

YOUR love for me I could not ever measure,

To bring joy to YOUR heart I do endeavor.

 

 

I’m overwhelmed by the grandeur of YOUR heart,

And how to capture YOUR Glory – where would I start?

For YOU are the GOD defies containment of mere man,

A GOD so vast a universe did YOUR hand span.

 

 

YOUR capacity for love and forgiveness – legendary,

Yet YOUR holiness faced without grace – fearful and scary.

So full of beauty, YOUR smile shames the sun,

Compared to YOU, earth’s fairest child is undone.

 

 

The Majesty that dwells in YOU compels, inspires,

YOU have eyes that burn with passion and with fire.

YOUR radiance outshines a trillion burning lights,

To glimpse YOU a soul has seen unparalleled delights!

We serve a Holy GOD, a truly awe-inspiring LORD. Not only is HE The GOD of incomprehensible loving-kindness and goodness - HE is equally The GOD of justice & righteousness; The GOD at Whose feet we should tremble in awe! For HE is terrifying in judgment; HIS holiness & purity so penetrating it would strip the flesh from our very bones, if we were confronted by the fullness of HIS Presence in our sins, without the precious, Atoning Blood of JESUS covering & cleansing us!

If ‘familiarity so readily breeds contempt’ let us take heed to our hearts, that we guard them in the reverence & fear of our Mighty GOD - that we spurn any inclination towards taking HIS mercy & grace for granted! Remind ourselves with great regularity of the inestimable price HE paid to deal with our sin problem - it will help us to remember that HE never did, and never will, take sin lightly!

 

Job 28:28“And to man HE said, ‘Behold, the fear of The LORD, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.’”

Isaiah 66:1-2 “Thus says The LORD: ‘Heaven is MY throne, and earth is MY footstool. Where is the house that you will build ME? And where is the place of MY rest? For all those things MY hand has made, and all those exist,’ says The LORD. ‘But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at MY word!’”

Job 34:12-14 “Surely GOD will never do wickedly, nor will The ALMIGHTY pervert justice. Who gave HIM charge over the earth? Or who appointed HIM over the whole world? If HE should set HIS heart on it, if HE should gather to HIMSELF HIS SPIRIT and HIS breath, all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust.”

 

This is the AWESOME GOD we serve, oh what unparalleled mercy has HE poured out upon us in generosity and abundance - let us NEVER belittle or negate HIS grace, let us always approach HIM with equal measures of confidence and reverence, in awe of HIM who sits enthroned upon the universe that HE spans with the  breadth of HIS mighty hand!

1 Chronicles 16:29-30a “Give to The LORD the glory due HIS Name; bring an offering and come before HIM. Oh worship The LORD in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before HIM, all the earth.”
